Accessibility
Statement prepared 26 October 2026
Everyone should be able to find out when Santa’s coming down their street. That includes people using screen readers, keyboards, magnifiers or voice control, and grandparents squinting at a phone in the cold.
This statement covers santatracker.uk, every club tracker page under santatracker.uk/clubs, and the tracker that clubs embed on their own websites. It doesn’t cover the rest of a club’s own website.
What you should be able to do
- Find every stop, date and time as plain text in the route list. You don’t need the map.
- Search for your street, and hear the result read out by a screen reader.
- Hear updates on the live sleigh, such as “the sleigh is on Station Road”, as they happen.
- Add a stop to your calendar, so you get a reminder.
- Use everything with a keyboard, and jump straight past the header with a “skip” link.
- Zoom text to 200% without losing content, and use the pages on a small phone.
- Have animations stopped for you. If your device is set to reduce motion, the falling snow and fairy lights stay still, and the snow starts switched off.
- Never get sound you didn’t ask for. The sleigh bells only play when you press the bells button.
How accessible it is
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We believe the site partially meets that standard, because of the known issues below.
Known issues
- The live map. The sleigh marker on the map can’t be reached with a keyboard, and the map itself is a picture. Everything it shows is also given as text: the live status line says where the sleigh is, and the route list shows every stop.
- Small labels on tracker pages. A few small labels, such as badges and timestamps, use text smaller than we’d like. They grow with browser zoom.
- Club themes. Clubs choose from several colour themes, and some have lower contrast than others in places. A club’s own logo and photos are outside our control.
- Embedded trackers. The embed has a descriptive title for screen readers. How it behaves also depends on the club’s own website around it.
We’re working on these, starting with the map, ahead of each December.
Tell us about a problem
If something doesn’t work for you, or you need information in a different format, please contact a human. Tell us the page and what went wrong. We’ll reply within five working days, and much faster in December.
If you’re trying to find out when a sleigh is coming and the page won’t let you, say so. We’ll find the time and stop for you.
How we tested
This statement is based on our own testing during development, including keyboard-only use, screen reader checks, zoom and reduced-motion settings, and automated checks. We’ll review it at least once a year, before each Christmas season.
